How can I address employee capability issues?

How can I address employee performance issues?

Performance review hearings

A helpful framework to use during hearings is a performance improvement plan. The plan should outline the areas for improvement, review period (employees should be given the time to improve), and possible outcomes if performance doesn’t improve. Employers need to set clear timescales and objectives.

What if performance still doesn’t improve?

If those performance issues persist, you could either redeploy the employee to a different role in your company or consider pursuing dismissal. However, we’d urge that employers only take the latter option in the case that the employee has received previous formal warnings and has been given sufficient opportunity to improve.

At West HR, we understand that this is an uncomfortable situation and we can provide a helping hand by attending or supporting formal performance review hearings. We’ll also produce the necessary supporting documentation.
